Seth finished up the 2nd grade with all "A"s! Way to go Seth! As a surprise for all of his hard work at school, Jim and I planned a camping trip that would start on the last day of school. When Seth got home from his last day of 2nd grade, the car was packed and ready to go. Garner State Park or bust! We got out there and ate dinner at a cute little restaurant in Leakey, Texas that had a pet macaw. Then we set up camp.
First thing to do the next morning: Fishing! (the fish were not biting)
Next up: Swimming in the Frio River! 
Our campsite was right on the river. Seth and I hiked downstream until we found a great swimming hole, so later in the day we grabbed our swim gear and floated on down the river to swim. The water was shallow and clear, with a nice current every now and then that the kids could float down. Logan learned to let his life jacket float him down the faster moving water.
At the swimming hole, Seth braved two different rope swings (many many times) and jumped off an old tree stub. Yes, it was much deeper here!
Jim braved a rope swing and a ladder up the side of two trees.
And I just braved one rope swing (multiple times- that is me on the right), then enjoyed swimming around with Logan.
At the other end of the swimming hole, there was a great tubing chute, so the boys walked up river and floated down over and over again. We spotted some small catfish and perch down there too!
After swimming: building the wood fire (great job by Jim and Seth) in order to grill dinner and roast marshmallows!
The boys slept in their own tent, directly across from ours.
We also had a lot of rock skipping contests.
All in all, an excellent camping trip! We definitely plan on doing more camping in the Fall!
(The only downside to this trip was having a headache just about the whole time! Especially the second night, when I thought my head would explode. The next morning Jim did almost all of the camp break down and packing up. Coming down with meningitis just as you go camping, is not something I would recomend! Hopefully that was a one time experience!)

Celebration Camping!

So fun to see the pics!! It almost makes me want to go camping, but day camp sounds just about right. The water looks great, too. What an experience, though, with that headache. Little did you know what was coming. Do you think the camping and exhaustion made the illness worse? Probably, huh?

I agree with Mom's comments. The pictures look like lots of fun, but camping is, indeed, a lot of work even when one is feeling well. I'm so sorry that you had to endure those terrible headaches for so long. Hope it never happens again.
