Sunday the 24th, Seth turned 6 years old! Thanks to everyone who sent cards, called him, or helped him celebrate his birthday in one way or another! It made his birthday super special! It also made for a hectic weekend! We started the celebration on Friday by sending frosted sugar cookies for him to enjoy with his classmates. They also sang Happy Birthday to him and he got to wear a birthday crown!
Saturday his friend party was a blast, but crazy! We had 100% attendance which meant we had more kids than anticipated! We started with traditional party games in the front yard. (water balloon toss, marshmallow race, 3-legged race...) Then we came inside to eat hotdogs, chips, and strawberries. After dinner, the plan was to let the kids play in the backyard until everyone was done eating. Then we had a pinata to do outside, followed by cake. Then we were going to end with balloon sword fights and presents. I tied balloon swords for everyone! Just as we were finishing the hot dogs and starting the pinata, it started to rain. We attempted the pinata, but finally had to take cover inside. So we did the pinata in the living room! My nephew was kind enough to hold a broom handle that had the pinata tied to it. We couldn't do blindfolds in precaution of someone getting killed so the pinata broke quickly! Then the kids had to stay inside for cake and the balloon swords which resulted in loud chaos in the living room at the end of the party! It was still a wonderful time, despite the rain!
Sunday we had a family birthday dinner at our house with some of Jim's family. Seth picked pizza for dinner, but I also made some spaghetti for Logan. Seth received lots of nice clothes, books, and toys, which was extremely nice of everyone! Jim and I got Seth a new bike and some biking gloves. Although, Jim and his dad picked it out and I think he went in on it a little. Mike, Matt, Jim, and Seth all went on a short bike ride before dinner to try it out! Seth loved everything and was a little overwhelmed by all the nice gifts and birthday money. He received some Legos and spent his birthday money to buy more Legos! He has fervently been building Lego models after homework the last couple of nights. He is just old enough that he can follow the picture instructions with minimal help!
I love watching him build things or do his homework and just being able to see him thinking about something so hard. He is doing excellent in kindergarten. He excelled in the beginning of the year assessment. He was able to accomplish much more than they expected and all of his skills are ahead of where he needs to be. He should stay ahead in his reading, writing, and math skills as the year progresses. Everyone gets along well with him at school and he has made lots of friends! His teacher is wonderful and said that he is always excited to participate, work, and learn. Just like Logan, Seth is growing up so quickly! Love you all!
(more birthday pictures will come as soon as I can do it)

sounds like an adventure. I'm suprised you were allowed to send a treat to school--i heard some schools stopped letting birthday treats come b/c they might be poisoned!! (we know that's the goal of all the parents in the world..to poison the children!)
Wow! What a birthday! Seth is really lucky to have all this fun created around his big day. And special thanks to his Mom for helping us be represented in the present pile.
