Houston Trip

The kids and I took a weekend to go visit my little sister, Melissa, and her family in Houston.  The first morning there we went to Brazos Bend State Park in a hunt for alligator sightings.  During the summer they hide in the cool water, so they are harder to spot.  We had success at the end of our day and spotted lots of other creatures as well!
Can you see all the frogs?  There were hundreds of them on top of the water!

The lake was covered with so much algae that it really looked like a grassy field with patches of dirt.

Our dung beetle friend.

The alligator we finally spotted- hanging out under the dock!

We saw a beautiful garter snake get hit by a car- he was still in tact so even though he was dying the boys moved him off into the grass.

If you look closely, you can see a huge spider!

Petting a baby alligator.

Finally, we got to meet new cousin Noah and I had some fun taking care of a baby!
