Zipping Around the Treetops

Jim and I took the opportunity for a special little trip to celebrate our anniversary this year. The boys' cousin, Justin, came down from Austin to babysit.

Logan looks less than thrilled with the picture, but they LOVED having their big cousin babysit them! Logan kept telling Justin, "You're the best!" We have been lucky to have nephews that will spend time playing with our boys and that we can hire to babysit!

While they were playing here at the house, Jim and I escaped to the Texas hill country for some zip-lining fun! We started with some normal zip-lines. Except for the starting platforms and ending platforms, we were usually around 60-70 feet up in the air.




We were the only ones in our group to beat the screamer challenge: screaming the whole way on one long zip line while only using one breath. We rock like that.

Then after relaxing on the hammocks by the lake...




...we geared up for the challenge course. There were 10-11 obstacles you could do, all up in the treetops. For example, you could try to walk across a suspended log (which means it would swing forwards/backwards and side-to-side), jump between two platforms, walk on a long tightrope (ridiculously hard- we both fell multiple times), and other balance/strength tasks. Jim was pretty good at the balancing! At the end of the challenge the final zip-line was "superman style" which means we were hanging by our backs and looking down at the ground while we zipped along. Awesome!

It was thrilling to be so high up in the large cypress trees! We even learned a few nature facts along the way. Here are a couple videos of us coming in on the zip-lines. You'll have to turn your head sideways to view the second one- whoops!



(and my last landing is so close to the ground, because we were coming down from the treetops to end the tour!)
